Last year BMW introduced its new 4 series as the newly named version of what used to be the 3 Series two-door coupe and convertible. Now, for this year 2015, the company has brought out the performance version of that car, the new BMW M4. The name might be unfamiliar to you, but the performance and image fit right in with the legacy associated with the more familiar M3 name.
M3 is a great all-around daily driver that you can go from the track to the grocery store but the M4 looks more like a true sports car. M3 is a more upright stance but M4 is slightly leaned-back. The 3.0-litre turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine is packed in an M4 that cranks out 425 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. In the previous M3 11 more hp and 111 lb-ft, more torque is present.
The 4 series general design gets the same in the 2015 BMW M4 with 4s Technology packed (navigation system, the larger display system and touched the iDrive controller) as standard plus the requisite M badges and snazzy carbon-fire aluminum trim. Overall the interior is solidly and high-quality.
Both front seats are comfortable and supportive for aggressive driving, and plenty of front headroom and legroom are present. The size of the backseat is decently designed for the class of the car. Enough headroom and legroom are present for average-size adults. Luggage space is substantial, even in the convertible. It takes about 20 seconds for lowering the convertible's top.
